UK construction industry gaining momentum
There’s great news for the whole of the construction industry following the latest announcement this month that the sector is finally gaining some momentum.
According to the latest industry survey, the UK construction industry has grown at its fastest rate in over a year, which was an unexpected surprise for everyone, including the team here at Mone Bros in Leeds. The survey revealed that the growth is partially down do the increase in house building since 2015, which has been happening nationwide.
The boost in the industry has meant that the HIS Markit/CIPS construction Purchasing Manager’s Index (PMI) rose to its highest since May 2017 – which is positive news to everyone in the industry, who have been fearing of a continued decline in the industry post-Brexit.
Although we are at a worrying time with an uncertain future, it is great to here that the construction industry as a whole is staying positive- with the survey also revealing that new orders have flowed at the fastest rate since May 2017 and house building and employment in the industry has rose by the most since 2015.
At Mone Bros, we work with a lot of companies within the construction sector, particularly house builders around Leeds and the North of England – therefore we are aware of the massive push for new homes in the region. We are delighted to here that this is continuing to have a positive effect on the industry as a whole.
